Wits University and Belgian researchers have released a shocking study.

The study revealed that over the last four years five percent of South African sex workers were raped or sexually assaulted by policemen.

Wits researcher Marlise Richter said “We were also surprised at the high levels of police violence”.

The survey was done over 2,000 sex workers in Hillbrow, Sandton, Rustenburg and Cape Town over a four month period.

The study was done over the world cup as well, and the study showed that there was not a major increase in demand for sex workers during the tournament.
