Two boys aged 13 and 14 who almost drowned were rescued by a surfer in Port Alfred on Thursday.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the boys were on a school trip visiting West Beach when they swept out to sea.
He said that the beach had clearly marking signs showing there is ‘no swimming’ allowed.
The boys were transported to a hospital for further observation.
Bathers have been urged to only swim at blue flag beaches.
