Three separate incidents occurred over the past two days resulting in the displacement of 23 people.
Fires took place at Siyahlala Informal Settlement in Philippi, Vygieskraal Informal Settlement in Belgravia and Clarke Estate, near Elsies River.
Disaster Risk Management Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said that luckily no-one sustained any injuries but the City is appealing to the public to be responsible when dealing with open flames, electrical devices, gas burners, lamps, and paraffin stoves.
The city will assist the victim’s food parcels, clothing, blankets and building materials.
