The
National Sea Rescue Institute on Thursday responded to a drowning incident in Bettys Bay whereby one person died.
Eight
crew members were onboard a boat which hit rocks and seven of the members
managed to jump to safety onto rocks.
One
crew member was lost at sea. NSRI
Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the NSRI Gordons Bay helicopter started the search for the man.
“The
body was located and recovered from a rock pool and he was confirmed deceased on the scene. The
adult male’s body has been handed to the care of Forensic Pathology Services.”

added that the South African Maritime Safety Authority are investigating the
incident and an inquest docket has been opened.
