The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape said it is disturbed by the murder of an 11-year-old girl in Manenberg by her uncle.

The body of the girl was found in an abandoned building in Maitland and her 44-year-old uncle was arrested on Thursday morning for her murder and disappearance.

ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon Christians said this is worrying because it has become a norm in the society for children to be killed by family members or friends.

Christians said government need to investigate the root cause of these killings and ensure that perpetrators are prosecuted.
