An off road biker was left seriously injured after he fell off his bike in an old mine dump site in Maraisburg this afternoon.
It is alleged that the biker and some
friends went off road riding on the dumpsite and were about three kilometres from the nearest road when the
biker fell seriously injuring himself.
Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha
said paramedics used motorbikes and four by four vehicles to transport their
equipment to where the patient was. Realizing that the terrain was too rough to
transport the patient out on the back of a bakkie they called for the Netcare
one medical helicopter to assist.
Botha added that once the patient
was stabilised and skilfully immobilised on a
trauma board they airlifted him to a Netcare hospital for the care that he
required.
