Mluleki Mrwebi
10 December 2012
A document distributed just received
by the Democratic Alliance reveals that of the 740 firearms listed as lost for
2011-12, 352 were lost due to negligence and a further 388 were lost under the
category of bona fide category of losses.
The DA says this finally answers some of their
questions as to how are South African Police Services firearms go missing.
The majority of losses are
categorized as a general negligent loss with no explanation.
DA Shadow Minister of Police Dianne
Kohler Barnard said most of these firearms are out there being used to commit
crime and the authorities need to give clarity of what actions have been taken
against those found guilty of loosing their firearms.
