Train accident in Amanzimtoti

A Transport Freight Railway train today derailed into Amanzimtoti River near Durban.

The train was carrying timber, travelling from Bayhed to Umkomaas. The Driver and a passenger were injured in the incident.

Railway Safety Regulator Head of Communications Babalwa Mpendu says the Safety Regulator is investigating the train accident.

“As soon as the investigation is finalised, the Railway Safety Regulator will communicate to the relevant parties exactly what the cause of the accident was” Mpendu added.
