An accident this morning on the R562 intersection in Diepsloot, Johannesburg left one person dead and two others injured.

This is after two vehicles collided into each other.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found that both vehicles were on the side of the road and sustained major damage.

Meiring said the driver of one of the light motor vehicle laid trapped inside his vehicle and showed no sign of life. Rescue workers had to use the Jaws of Life to free the man and started performing CPR, unfortunately no sign of life returned.

“Two occupants from the second vehicle sustained only minor injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment” Meiring added.

The exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
