Lusanda Bill
8 December 2010
Major changes will be made soon to the Western Cape Liquor Act.
The changes include giving municipalities the right to determine the trading hours of liquor outlets.
The new amendments were approved during the last sitting of the legislature yesterday.
Economic Development MEC Alan Winde said if Premier Helen Zille signs off the changes, a new liquor authority will be formed to decide on trading licences.
MEC for Social Development Patricia de Lille said yesterday in her speech over the debate of the liquor amendment bill that the Liquor Amendment Bill represents our will to act.
