The Democratic Alliance says there are more than 9-thousand unqualified teachers teaching in KwaZulu-Natal schools.
DA Member of Parliament, Alf Lees, says 20 of these unqualified teachers had not even obtained a grade 12 and about eight-thousand-three-hundred only had a grade 12 qualification.
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga asked these statistics at a parliamentary question.
Lees says the real problem lies in resourcing teacher training facilities which could be accessible to students in rural areas.
