Free State paramedics had a gruesome task early this morning on the scene of a crash outside Harrismith.
Twenty-eight people were killed and nine others injured, two of whom critically.
Netcare 911’s Jeffrey Wicks says a minibus taxi and a heavy goods truck collided head-on on the N-3.
A number of children are among the dead.
The minibus was apparently carrying 37 people.
