The two policemen accused of raping a woman in Johannesburg have been released on two-thousand-Rands bail by the Alexandra’s Magistrates Court.
The case will be heard on the 23rd of February next year, after results from a DNA test have been confirmed. The officials were arrested for allegedly raping a 27-year-old woman earlier this month.
The Minister of Police Nathi Mthetwa has called for harsh punishment against officers who are convicted of rape.
Magistrate Syta Prinsloo says the State has a weak case because there is no evidence that the woman was raped by the policemen.
