A 16 year-old girl injured in a collision in Pietermaritzburg’s CBD

A teenage girl was left in a critical condition and her mother suffered serious injuries when they were involved in a collision in Pietermaritzburg’s CBD yesterday.

ER24 paramedics Spokesperson Luyanda Majija said Witnesses said the mother in her 40’s was allegedly driving through the Berg Street and Chapel Street intersection when she collided with a taxi.

Majija added that she was in a stable condition and she sustained serious spinal injuries due to the impact of the erupted airbag. She was transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg.

“The woman’s daughter was worse off having sustained severe head injuries. She was stabilised on scene and was transported to Edendale Hospital for further treatment.

Two passengers from the taxi sustained minor injuries.” Majija added.

the exact cause of the collision is under investigation by local authorities.
