The Durban Organized Crime Unit and
the Customs Officials in Durban
arrested a man at King Shaka International Airport on
Monday for possession of drugs.
Provincial police Spokesperson
Thulani Zwane said the tip received a tip-off about a man coming from Brazil
carrying the drugs.
Zwane said the suspect will remain
in police custody as the police suspect that he is part of a bigger crime syndicate.
“A 43 year old man is due to appear
today in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court facing
charges of possession of drugs.” Zwane added.
Zwane said it is alleged that the
members were working at the airport when they received information that there
is someone who is coming from Sao Paolo with the drugs.
“When the flight landed they
searched the suspects and he was found in possession of cocaine to the street
value of more than R800 000. He was therefore arrested for possession of
drugs.” Zwane added.
