The ANC says former Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang is in a stable condition in a Johannesburg hospital.
But it has condemned what it says were negative and irresponsible reports by the media about her hospitalisation.
The ANC says it is outraged that society and newspaper watchdogs like the Press Ombudsman remained silent as Tshabalala-Msimang’s rights to privacy and doctor-patient confidentiality were violated in the name of investigative journalism.
The party says it will support her family if they should decide to take legal action.
