President Jacob Zuma has appointed former Arts and Culture minister, former KwaZulu-Natal premier and former ambassador to Japan, Ben Ngubane, as chairperson of the SABC board.
Information technology law specialist Felleng Sekha will serve as deputy chairperson.
Other well-known members of the broadcaster’s new board are journalist and author Pippa Green, another former ambassador Barbara Masekela and the Inkatha Freedom Party’s Suzanne Vos.
The SABC earlier announced the appointment of Solly Mokoetle as the corporation’s new group chief executive.
