The South African Communist Party in the Eastern Cape said it is disturbing and unfortunate the situation on scholar transport in the province.

SACP Provincial Spokesperson Siyabonga Mdodi said the Department of Transport cannot distance itself from its responsibilities to ensure there is quality scholar transport provided to the children of the Eastern Cape.

Mdodi said they reiterate their call to the Department of Transport to get to the bottom of the issue and ensure that no more lives are lost.

“Our government must work tirelessly to combat the existing corrupt network between some corrupt government officials and greedy tenderpreneurs.

“We must not that this comment comes just after we have, once more, lost another five school kids as a result of another accident in the scholar transport system” Mdodi added.
