Western Cape MEC of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Alan Winde said he is happy with the strong international interest that Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone is bringing in.

The Provincial government has invested R25 million over a five year period in creating the IDZ.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronwynne Jooste said the initial stages the Saldanha Bay IDZ licensing company has already signed six lease agreements, and they are also in final negotiation for a further three lease agreements.

“So we can see that earlier indications are that the IDZ will indeed be a major catalyst for foreign direct investments and increased employment opportunities for Western Cape residents in the medium to long term” Jooste added.
