The Electoral Commission and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation has joined forces to register South Africans living abroad for the 2014 elections.

IEC’s Spokesperson Kate Bapela said the 2014 general elections is a watershed for South Africans, as it marks the 20th anniversary of our democracy.

Bapela added that the registration process will be closed on the 7th of February and there is also two special registration weekend that has been set aside for citizens living abroad.

“That is the weekend of 18th and 19th and the 25th and 26th January. They can take their green bar coded Identity Documents or their valid passport to go and register in order to cast their votes,” Bapela said.
