The South African Communist Party in the
SACP Provincial Spokesperson Masonwabe
Sokoyi said the City of Cape Town needs to
immediately assist the victims with building materials that were damaged during
the eviction.
Sokoyi said back in 2009 and last year the
SACP wrote letters to the National Department of Housing, Transport and Road
Development for their intervention to ensure that those people evicted are
given proper accommodation.
“However we could not get any assistance
because we got resistance from the City of Cape Town to not buy the
land” Sokoyi added.
