The Constitutional Court has
dismissed Bob Hewitt's quest to have his rape conviction overturned.
Hewitt has been found guilty of
several counts of sexual offenses and will begin his six-year jail sentence
from the 20th of September.
The now 75-year-old former
Grand Slam tennis champion who was convicted early last year has been found
guilty of raping two girls and sexually assaulting another.
These incidents happened in
the 1980s when Hewitt was their tennis coach.
He has been out on R10 000
bail pending a series of appeals. Hewitt has to present himself to correctional
services and start his prison sentence next week.
