UCT protests continue

The ongoing protests by hundreds of students at The University of Cape Town has resulted in it closing its libraries and 24/7 study area.

Following suspension, an interdict and expulsion of students involved in protests against fee increases, the students vowed to shut down the university.

They called for the institution to ‘bring back their cadres’.

Today, the university said it was monitoring the situation.


Earlier in the day, the university said students had blocked access to Baxter Road on the Lower Campus, leading to Jammie shuttle buses being expected to take alternative routes
