Woman arrested in Gugulethu for R1m's worth of drugs

A 49-year-old woman will soon appear at the Athlone Magistrates court, after she was caught with R1 million’s worth of drugs.

Western Cape police spokesperson, F.C van Wyk, said the suspect was nabbed in Gugulethu on Tuesday.

‘’On Tuesday, 2023-12-19 at about 09:30 the members were busy conducting crime prevention policing and stop and search operations in Guguletu when they were stopped by a concerned citizen who informed them about a possible drug storage facility at a premises in Bongani Street, New Cross Roads, Gugulethu.They immediately operationalised the information and observed the mentioned premises until they saw objects being dropped and numerous people visiting the site.’’

‘’The member conducted a search of the premises and seized 14770 mandrax tablets, three packets tik, six sachets tik, small quantity loose tik and a small quantity of cocaine worth R1 million,’’ added Captain F.C van Wyk, Western Cape police spokesperson.
