A 2.5 metre long decomposed whale was beached ashore between Clovelly and Fish Hoek yesterday.
The City of Cape Towns Solid Waste Management Department has removed the carcass to Visserhok Landfill Site.
It remains uncertain what type of whale it was as the carcass was already decomposed into the advanced stage.
The part of the beach where the whale washed up was closed for a certain time. This was a protective measure to avoid shark activity along the shoreline.
