With schools having closed for the December holidays, traffic officials warn that motorists can expect wet weather over much of the east of the country all weekend.
Heavy downpours have already hit parts of Gauteng. The province’s authorities warn that they will focus on vehicles that are not roadworthy because of further expected heavy rain during December and January.
Meanwhile western Cape Education MEC Donald Grant is on his way to the Worcester Hospital after an accident left two learners dead and nine injured this morning.
Grant says some of the children did not use their usual mode of transport as they wanted to get to school early.
