Two were killed and many were injured in an accident on the N2 near Sir Lowry's Pass this morning.

Reports say a truck driver lost control of his vehicle.

Meanwhile, five people lost their lives in two separate accidents in Gauteng during the past 12 hours.

Three people were killed when a bakkie and a car collided on the N-One near the N-12 split in Johannesburg.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks says the driver of the bakkie had apparently tried to make a U-turn on the freeway when the collision occurred.

The driver of the bakkie and two passengers in the car died on the scene.

And, two men died when the mini-bus taxi they were travelling in burst a tyre and overturned near the Grasmere Toll Plaza.

Fifteen people were injured, three of them seriously.
