Minister of Transport Sibusiso Ndebele has welcomed the Western Cape High Court’s finding that taxi driver Jacob Humphreys was guilty of murdering ten school pupils.
Humphreys tried to overtake a row of cars when his taxi, filled with fourteen school children, was hit by an oncoming train.
Ndebele says they will work with the police and National Prosecuting authority in ensuring a more aggressive approach towards irresponsible drivers.
He says society has degenerated to a level where some drivers continue to display blatant disregard for human life.
