DA: defend its poster

The Democratic Alliance has defended its poster showing the Former President Nelson Mandela embracing Helen Suzman.

The poster has caused uproar. The DA says they are intending to do away with the perception that the DA would bring back apartheid if they were to win elections.

DA Spokesperson Cameroon Arendse said they will continue distributing more posters to strengthen their campaign.

Arendse added the party continue to promote and defend the values Helen Suzman stood for half a Century ago. These are the same ideas that underpin our non-racial democracy and its founding compact, our Constitution.

“Because the ruling party wants to own the history of the struggle against apartheid, it is quick to downplay, deny, and even appropriate the contributions of those outside its fold.”
