The Western Cape Agriculture Department today announced several ways to ensure another farmworkers strike does not happen again.

Hundreds of farmworkers downed tools earlier this year to demand better wages.

MEC of Agriculture Gerrit van Rensburg said in the short term 13 solutions has been drawn up to help the agriculture sector.

Ministerial Spokesperson Wouter Kriel said these solutions include a survey which will find out what services do workers need and where do they stay and how many workers are there in the province.

Kriel further said they will be focusing on training and also creating opportunities for young people in terms of offering bursaries and internships programme.
