As part of the Education Safer Schools Programme, 17 parolees and probationers as well as four Correctional Officials assisted in cleaning the Mzwilili Junior Primary School in Kwa-Zulu-Natal.

This is where a body of an 8-year-old was found brutally raped and killed in February this year.

Minister of Correctional Services Sibusiso Ndebele said relations need to be strengthened between schools, communities, government and business to reduce violence in schools.

“This also ensures that offenders give back to communities and show remorse for the crimes the committed against communities” Ministerial Spokesperson Logan Maistry said.
