Missing tourist found at visgat hiking trail

The Western Cape Emergency Service rescue team have found the 60 year-old Canadian tourist who went missing while he was hiking in the Cederberg Mountains near Clanwilliam.

EMS Spokesperson Keri Davids said the man was found in a good condition and did not need medical assistant.

Davids added that when they activated the emergency medical services in the Western Cape and the team of 7 rescuers, which included emergency medical service rescuers, wilderness search and rescue.

Furthermore she explains that there were three community members that also assisted in the search and the emergency medical services also activated the air emergency service rescue helicopters and they did an aerial sweep of the area for two hours.

However she said they did not find the missing tourist, after which they dispatched a ground team who found the tourist very close to the hiking trail known as the visgat hiking trail.
