More than 70 percent of business robberies were committed against foreign-owned businesses, according to Community Safety MEC Dan Plato.

MEC Plato was addressing growing concerns at a meeting between the police and the Chinese business community in Milnerton on Thursday.

The meeting follows six robbers allegedly included two policemen in Milnerton a week ago. The officers have been arrested and suspended.

Plato said his message to the Chinese community is safety and responsibility not only the SAPS responsibility.

Plato added that the Chinese should make useful of South African banking system and the perpetrators knows which shop to target.
