Former Home Affairs employee convicted of fraud

The Department of Home Affairs has welcomed the conviction of a former financial officer of the department. 

Selby Skosana was sentenced and convicted by the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court to six years in jail. 

The former Home Affairs Department employee was arrested for fraudulent subsistence and travel allowance claims against the state in excess of R220 000. 

Home Affairs Department’s David Hlabane said Skhosana`s assets will taken to recovered the stolen money and he has already paid about R45 000 towards the money.
