Traffic Officers Arrest 6 Drunk Drivers at Road Blocks

Western Cape Traffic Officers intensified their efforts to reduce the number of road accidents involving drunk drivers by holding roadblocks throughout the province this past weekend.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said they stopped 1 506 vehicles.

“455 drivers were tested for alcohol, 6 drunken drivers were arrested, which the highest reading was 1.19mg /1000ml of breath recorded in Breckenfell.” Africa added.

The highest speed recorded in the Western Cape was 161km per hour in a 120km per hour between Pearl and Breckenfell.

395 drivers were prosecuted for speeding limit.
