Problems with scholar transport at some communities

The Western Cape Education Department has responded to allegations made by the communities of Langebaan and Veldrift.

These communities alleged that the department did not provide school transport for learners this year; as a result learners have not been in school.

Department Spokesperson Millicent Merton said these communities only applied on Friday for school transport, so the department would not have provided transport without an application.

Merton said for safety purposes the department is required to provide details of all learners that are using the school transport and that is the requirement of the national policy and it needs to adhered too.
