The Department of Environmental Affairs have expressed concern at the amount of medical waste being dumping in sites in the Free State.
The Green Scorpions yesterday discovered two new sites of buried medical waste in the Welkom area.
The waste was found buried on the Jonkerus Farm, about 25 km outside the town and at the Welkom Show grounds.
In a statement the department warned that the waste poses a health and bio-hazard risk to people that may come into contact with it.
Investigators have re-buried the waste until a suitable solution for disposal can be found.
