Western Cape MEC of Human
Settlements Bonginkosi Madikizela will
today handover title deeds to three beneficiaries with the oldest being
97-years-old.
Ministerial Spokesperson Bruce Oom
said the issuing of title deeds is part of the Departments strategy to
encourage a sense of ownership and responsibility amongst housing
beneficiaries, and also to ensure that all recipients of government houses have
the full rights of property ownership.
“The hand over is part of the EEDBS
programme which is Enhance Extended Discount Benefit Scheme Policy essentially
this is a scheme where people who received houses before 1994 have had their
outstanding loans to government paid off using subsidies.
Once the house is paid off and they
become eligible as a complete owner of the home they then receive their title
deeds,” Oom added
