An accident in Newcastle claimed the lives of two people

An accident involving a taxi on the R34 near Newcastle left two people dead and several people including children where injured. 

It is believed the driver of the taxi lost control and the taxi overturned several times before coming to a standstill. 

ER24 Spokesperson Luyanda Majija said one of the deceased was a male in his thirties who was declared dead by responding paramedics as on their arrival he succumbed to his injuries.

“The second deceased was a female in her forties who died after she arrived at Magedeni hospital. She was paralyzed as the results of the severe spinal injuries she sustained. According to one responding paramedic the taxi was traveling on relatively good road, making the cause of this accident unclear.” Majija added.
