The Department of Agricultural,
Forestry and Fisheries has met its deadline in awarding fishing quotas in eight
fishing sectors.
The department assisted in the
application process and making sure communities understood the whole process.
Minister of Agricultural, Forestry
and Fisheries Tina Joemat-Pettersson said her department is committed towards
working with the fishing industry to create a stable and transformed fishing
industry that is inclusive.

Mokomele said the Minister has welcomed the awarding of fishing quotas by
the department.
“The minister received a report from
the department this week, which says fishing rights in eight
fisheries were allocated to beneficiaries at the end of last year,” Mokomele
added.
