Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato said he is pleased by the convictions of criminals responsible for murdering police officers.

This as the killers of Constable Xolisa Banga who was murdered in March 2012 were on Wednesday convicted.

MEC Plato has called on the community to help support police officers who often work under very difficult circumstances.

Plato said even if convictions happen some time down the line but it sends out a strong message to criminals.

“People of the Western Cape want to be reassured that the long arm of the law does catch up with perpetrators of violence, with killers and specifically cop killers” Plato added.
