A teenage boy from Bonteheuwel that was charged with rape made his second court appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.
The teenager who cannot be named as he is a minor, previously
opted to abandon his bail application. The 15-year-old is accused of sexual
assaulting and raping eight minors.
‘’What is more traumatic is that the victims of the case
are connected to the perpetrator. While GBV continues to spiral out of control
across the country, despite various empty promises made by President Cyril
Ramaphosa, residents of Bonteheuwel and all those connected to this case can
rest assured that I will follow through till the very end of this case, we will
deliver justice not just for the victims but for the other 84 999 residents of
Bonteheuwel that seek it,’’ said Angus McKenzie, Bonteheuwel ward councillor.
The case has been postponed to 23 April 2024. He will be
remanded in custody and held at the Pollsmoor Prison juvenile section.
