Residents in ward 30 who are eligible to vote are urged to register and/or update their registration details.

The Independent Electoral Commission is urging residents in ward 30 who are eligible to vote, register and/or update their registration details this weekend for the upcoming municipal by-elections that is scheduled in November.

The ward, which includes areas mostly in Manenberg has been without a councilor following the death of ward councilor.

According to data from the IEC, there are more than 16 400 registered voters in Ward 30.

Citizens as well as voters’ resident in the affected ward are requested to visit registration stations at Phoenix High School, Edendale primary School, Manenberg People’s Centre, The Downs Community Centre, Rio Grande Primary School, Salvation Army Centre in Manenberg, Manenberg high School, and Manenberg Primary School.

Registration stations will open at 8am and close at 5pm.

To register, eligible voters in the affected wards must be in possession of either a green barcoded ID book, a Smartcard ID, or a valid Temporary Identity Certificate to be allowed to register.
