The Airports Company South Africa has applied for a 132.9 % tariff increase.

Spokesperson Priscillah Mabelane says the application is based on the common financial principle of return on investment.

Mabelane says allowing ACSA to levy the increase for the 2010/11 financial year will enable the company to reward its investors adequately for their investments.

In practical terms, the passenger service charge will increase from R42 to R99 on a single domestic trip.
