Quick action by Anti-Land Invasion Unit members has led to the arrest of two would be robbers.
Two members of the Unit were on their way to work when they spotted a crowd gathering opposite the Blue Downs Court.
“Upon investigation the members learned that two men, a few seconds prior to their arriving, tried to rob individuals in the crowd at gunpoint. Being unsuccessful they ran into the nearby bush.
The two members immediately scouted the bush found the two individuals hiding.
They were searched and an illegal firearm was found on one of them,” said city spokesperson Neil Arendse.
The suspects were taken to Mfuleni SAPS and will appear in court soon.
They face charges of attempted robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm including ammunition.
