Over a hundred children from various townships around the City enjoyed a three-day camp at Koggelberg in Grabouw over the weekend.

The camp provided them with an opportunity to experience life in a completely different environment, other than the township, and have loads of fun.

During the camp various facilitated sessions were organised for the children, including team building, leadership, HIV/ Aids awareness and storytelling.

Ilchen Retief from the Amy Biehl Foundation which hosted the camp, says the children loved and enjoyed going to the camps.

“Basically what happens the kids get taken away into a camp into nature and get classes on various issues from HIV/AIDS, leadership, abuse and some team building excercises,” said Retief.

The Amy Biehl Foundation aims its programmes at allowing the children to supplement what they learn during the course of the school day with creative programmes that let them express themselves and think freely in an imaginative environment.
