Social Development Mayoral Committee Member Councillor Grant Pascoe has voiced concerns over Metrorail commuter safety.
This is after the death of yet another pedestrian between Philippi and Mitchell’s Plain stations last week.
Pascoe says Metrorail is doing nothing to protect the commuters and pedestrians all they do is just to send condolences to the grieving families.
“Metrorail must stop promising and acting concerned when people die and offering the settlements and condolences to the deceased families,” said Councilor Pascoe.
The Councilor is also suspicious about the statement which was issued by the company that their railways have been fenced, but people steal the fence.
“I now really with the communities want proof of where they put these fences and when they were stolen, because they only inform us after the incidents,” he said.
He went on to say Metrorail needs to tell the city where the fences are so that they can start assisting them to protect the fences.
