WC roadblocks statistics

The Western Cape Traffic Department held 12 road blocks throughout the province Friday night.

1, 512 vehicles were stopped and 652 drivers were tested for alcohol.

Two drunken drivers were arrested and the highest alcohol reading was recorded at 1.04 mg/l.

Another driver was arrested for doing 166 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. 

“The total fines that were issued at these road blocks were R120 000, and for the past 48 hours we tested the speed of 20 493 vehicles and 2337 were prosecuted for exceeding the speed limit” Africa added.

Africa said that between yesterday and 06:00 am this morning, there were no fatalities reported in the WC province.
