The Western Cape government on Monday said the expanded public works programme has created more than 100 000 jobs in the province.

The EPWP focuses on government funded programmes that provide work opportunities and income relief for the unemployed.

Spokesperson for the Provincial Department of Transport and Public Works Al-Ameen Kafaar said we have exceeded our target by far when we reached the 100 000 jobs created through numerous projects in partnership with a number of departments.

“We as a department of transport and public works actual drive the expanded public works programme in the province and we are happy to be involved with national departments as we take part in this national outreach programme” Kafaar added.
