Minister of Home Affairs Naledi Pandor said her department is working hard to seize late birth registration by 2015.

Minister Pandor on Tuesday visited a hospital in Nelspruit and encouraged parents to give birth in health facilities to make the process of registering births easier.

Minister Pandor talks about a challenge experienced by the department regarding late registration of birth.

“One of the big problems is identity theft, because if you have not registered you child you may use the name but some else might approach home affairs office claim to have that name and even use the particular birth date,” Pandor added.
